Stocks opened week up yesterday with all the indices at Dhaka and Chittagong stock exchanges finishing upwards on higher activities of large-cap securities despite lower transactions.
The rising major sectors were insurance, ceramics, food and allied and engineering. A total of 148 securities moved up due to higher activities.
The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) finished the day with 21.61 points up at 5,710.06.
The two selective indices – DS30 and DSES – were also marginally up at 2001.33 points and 1311.05 points respectively.
Majority of the issues traded on the two bourses closed the day up on moderate demand. Out of the 347 issues traded on DSE, 187 gained against 112 losing issues.
The trade value at DSE decreased to Tk 462.14 crore from the previous session’s Tk 491.72 crore while the trade volume also fell to 10.59 crore from 11.21
crore shares of Thursday trading.
The five major gaining companies were Takaful Insurance, Northern Insurance, Monno Ceramics, BATBC and Singer BD.
The five major losing companies were Dutch Bangla Bank, NCCBLMF1, Lanka Bangla, Shyampur Sugar and ECABLES.
The top five turnover leaders were UPGDCL, Monno Ceramics, Singer BD, Dutch Bangla Bank and National Polymer.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also
closed the day up, with its major CASPI index ending 81.52 points higher at 17,477.31.
At CSE, 241 issues were traded. Of those, 135 issues closed higher while 69 issues lower.
