283 held; firearms seized in Ctg
CHITTAGONG: Police in special drives arrested 283 listed accused, including 11 activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir, from different upazilas of the district on Saturday night, reports BSS. The law enforcers also seized two Light Guns, five rounds cartridge, 421 litres of liquor during the night-long drives. In addition to upazila police, nearly 220 additional policemen participated in the drives that were conducted in different parts of the district including in the upazilas of Satkania, Lohagara, Sitakund, Boalkhali and Chandanaish. Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of district special branch Naimul Islam said the arrestees were accused in different cases. Separate cases were filed with the respective police stations in these regard. Another report adds: Police recovered an unidentified body of a youth from Lalkhan Bazar area under city’s Kotwali thana on Saturday, reports BSS. On information from the locals, Kotwali police recovered the body aged around 25 from an under-construction building of Delta Housing around 2pm, police said. Police suspected that the youth might have been killed two or three days ago.
