Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) President Abdul Kader Siddique and three other leaders of the party on Sunday submitted nomination papers to contest the Tangail-4 by-election billed for November 10, reports UNB. Kidder Siddique’s wife Nasrin Siddique along with party leaders and activists submitted the nomination papers to the Kalihati upazila returning officer, said a press release. The three other KSJL leaders who filed nominations are Nasrin Siddique, party joint secretary Iqbal Siddique and Kalihati unit party president Hasmat Ali. The parliamentary seat-133 (Tangail-4) remains vacant since September 1 as sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique, elder brother of Kader Siddique, quit his parliament membership on September 1. The former Posts and Telecommunications Minister was dropped from the cabinet and stripped off his membership of the ruling Awami League in October last year amid a wave of criticisms following his derogatory remarks on hajj and Tabligh Jamaat in the USA last year. A total of 19 aspirants collected the nomination forms to contest the election.
