Keep communal harmony 
during Durga Puja: Speakers

KHULNA: Speakers at a view-exchange meeting here yesterday stressed the need for keeping communal harmony to ensure a peaceful celebration of Durga Puja, the biggest religious festival of the Hindu community, reports BSS. They also hoped that the Durga Puja will be celebrated amid great enthusiasm in the city and all the nine upazilas of the district with cooperation of the masses. Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) organised the meeting at the KMP headquarters with KMP Commissioner Nibash Chandra Majhi in the chair.
Former minister and central Awami League leader Begum Monnuzan Sufian, MP, former mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and City Unit Al President Talukder Abdul Khaleque, MP, addressed the meeting as the chief and special guests respectively.
Among others, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Mahbub Hakim, deputy commissioners Molla Zahangir Hossain, Fazlur Rahman and Aref Hossain, Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Moniruzzaman Mithu, Puja Udjapon Parisad City Unit President Shyamol Halder, General Secretary Prashanta Kundu, Sadar thana unit AL President Advocate Saiful Islam, Sonadanga thana unit AL President Bulu Biswas, Daulatpur thana unit AL President Sheikh Sayed Ali, Khalishpur thana unit AL President Sanaullah Nannu, city unit JSD General Secretary Khalid Hossain, ex-general secretaries of Khulna Press Club S M Zahid Hossain and S M Habib addressed the meeting.
All thana, ward and union units Puja Udjapon Parisad and AL president and general secretary, journalists and high officials of KMP attended the meeting. The chief guest said during the present government all religious festivals like Eid, Puja, Buddha Purnima and Christmas were observed peacefully and the upcoming Durga Puja this year will also be celebrated in the same manner.
