RAJSHAHI: Protecting the legitimate rights of the children alongside freeing them from all sorts of violation, repression and deprivation has become indispensable for building a healthy and knowledge-based future generation, reports BSS. Speakers made this observation while addressing a discussion held at Shishu Academy hall room in the city here yesterday. District Administration and Shishu Academy jointly organised the discussion in observation of World Children Day and Child Rights Week-2015.
Deputy Commissioner Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury and District Children Affairs Officer Mosharraf Hossain Prodhan addressed the discussion as chief and special guests respectively with Sukhen Mukherjee, former Children Organiser, in the chair.
President of National Children Task Force Tuhin Khan and District Youth Volunteer Rashed Ahmed also spoke. The speakers viewed that the physical and mental development of children couldn’t be possible until they were protected from violence and deprivation from their early childhood. Terming the children as the future power of the nation, the speakers called for ensuring equal rights for developing their latent intelligence as they constitute a significant portion of the country’s total population. Besides, they stressed on teaching children the positive family and social values and encourage them to develop healthy behaviors at an early age. The children should be protected from all sorts of labour, violence, repression and oppression so that they could build themselves competent enough to serve the nation. Apart from this, they emphasised the need for ensuring safety and security to them and stopping early marriage in the greater national interest.
