4 ‘drug peddlers’ held with 1,290 yaba tablets

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in two separate anti-crime drives arrested four alleged drug traders with 1290 pieces of banned Yaba tablets in the city on Tuesday.
RAB sources said the arrested persons were identified as Muhammad Ali, 55, Sabbir Hossain, 26, Azim Uddin, 28, and Jahangir Alam, 30. On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden raid at Seroil
Bus Terminal area under Boalia Police Station around 3.45 pm and arrested Muhammad Ali with 980 pieces of yaba tablets.
Another RAB team conducted a raid at Barabangram Chalkpara area under Shahmukhdum Police Station at about 1.30 pm and arrested three persons red-handed. The RAB team recovered 310 pieces of Yaba tablets from their possessions. The arrested persons along with the seized contraband items were handed over to the police.
Begum Wali Ahmed’s death anniversary today

The eighth death anniversary of Begum Wali Ahmed, wife of Late Dr Wali Ahmed, freedom fighter, a close associate to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and former lawmaker, will be observed today.
On the occasion, milad mahfil will be held at her residence at Muradnagar after Zohar prayers today.
Relatives and friends, admirers are requested to attend the programme, says a press release.
