Bangla Academy has chalked down some special events to observe the International Mother Language Day today in a befitting manner.
In observance of the day, the officials and employees of the academy will pay tributes to memories of the language movement martyrs in the morning by placing wreaths at the Central Shahid Minar.
A self-composed poetry recitation on the Ekushey February will be held at 7:30am at the main stage on the Bangla Academy premises while a musical event will be held on the day in the evening.
A special event ‘Amar Ekushey Speech’ will be held on the day at the main stage in the afternoon where language veteran and national professor Rafiqul Islam will deliver his speech. The programme will be presided over by Bangla Academy president and National Professor Anisuzzaman.
Besides, the academy’s ongoing Ekushey book fair will begin at 7:30am today and end at 9pm.
