Professor Abdus Selim has translated the play into Bangla based on ‘Life of Galileo’, also known as Galileo, is a play by the twentieth-century German dramatist Bertolt Brecht with incidental music by Hanns Eisler.
However, almost 30 years ago, ‘Galileo’ was brought to the country’s stage for the first time under the direction of noted playwright and actor Ataur Rahman. Though the play had been shown on a regular basis for the next 10 years at that time, the staging of the play was being stopped from staging for the last 20 years. Returning to the stage in a new form under the direction of Pantha Shahriar after so many years, ‘Galileo’ was staged for the first time on October 5 last year at the Mahila Samity in the capital.
