Three students of Mouchak Prof. Shahjahan Ali College, in Gazipur, were killed in a road accident near Itahata of Gazipur city on Sunday morning. Another 4 people were killed in a microbus-truck head on collision at Harintala in Khulna. The victims of the Gazipur crash were identified as Raja Babu, 18, son of Sontush Babu of Ayesh Market area of Mouchak under Kaliakoir upazila in Gazipur district, Joni, 17, son of Joynal Abedin, and Shakib Hossain, 17, son of late Dr. Mojahar Hossain of the same area.
Officer in charge of Bashon police station under the Gazipur Metropolitan Police, Muktar Hossain, said, the three students were travelling on a motorcycle to Konabari from Gazipur.
When they reached the Itahata area of Gazipur city on the Dhaka–Tangail highway, a Gazipur-bound passenger bus of Polash Poribahan collided head-on with the motorcycle. The three died on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent them to the Gazipur Shahid Taj Uddin Ahmed Medical college hospital morgue for autopsy. Police also detained the driver and seized the bus from the spot.
UNB adds: Four people were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a microbus at Harintala in Khulna city last night. The deceased could not be identified till filing of this report early today.
Witnesses said the Khulna-bound truck carrying cement collided with the Bagerhat-bound microbus in the area under Labanchhara Police Station at 11:10pm, leaving the four dead on the spot.
