Conference on preterm newborns held

Special care newborn unit (SCANU) and Neonatal Intensive care Unit (NICU) of Institute of Child & Mother Health (ICMH) organised a two-day-long international conference on preterm newborns for the first time in Bangladesh on Thursday and Friday. The programme was held with a very important theme ‘The Preterm Newborn 2019: Where We are & What to Do Next?’. Management of the prematurity and complication is a burning issue for reduction of neonatal mortality to 12 per thousand live births by 2030.

This international conference will create scope to share knowledge and experiences among physicians home and abroad working in the field of neonatal and child healthcare.

In the inauguration ceremony of this  seminar,  State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Murad Hasan was present as the chief guest. Prof Dr Tahmina Begum, president of BNF, Prof Dr Nazmun Nahar, ex director general of BIRDEM & advisor of BNF, Prof Dr MQ-K Talukder, eminent professor of Paediatrics and Chairman of Centre for Women and Child Health (CWCH), Joby George from Save the Children in Bangladesh, Maya vandenent from UNICEF, Bangladesh, Dr Anup Kumar Saha, joint director of ICMH, Prof Dr Wahida Khanam, HOD Pediatrics of ICMH were also present at the programme.
