ACC drive finds illegal tree cutting in Dinajpur

A team of Anti-corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday conducted a drive on basis of their hotline allegation and unearthed that a huge number of trees like fruits and woods were cut down illegally in Dinajpur district. The drive was led by Ahsanul Kabir Palsh, Assistant Director of ACC at the Buchaganj upazila in the district yesterday.  The ACC team found out that the Upazila Parishad chairman ordered the contractor to cut down road side tress and deposit the money without any legal tender order.

So far about 3000 trees were cleared in this processes which are worth more than 5 million as per the local information. ACC enforcement unit director Mohammod Munir Chowdhury said, corruption is the primary reasons for the destruction of the forest resources. Due to the corruption, the country's environment and biodiversity are being destroyed, he added.
