Three women, who fell sick after taking excessive liquor in Munshiganj’s Gajaria upazila on Friday night, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday morning.
The deceased were identified as Chameli, wife of Mantu, her sister Chaina and their aunt Josna, of Sundarganj upazila in Gaibandha upazila.
Harun-or-Rashid, officer-in-charge of Gazaria Police Station said, Chameli and her husband Mantu used to work at 'Khan Shipyard' as cleaner and lived inside the shipyard.
On Friday night, Chameli, Mantu, Chaina and Josna drank liquor at their house at Hosendi.
Later, Chameli, Chaina and Josna fell sick after taking excessive liquor. They were taken to Gazaria Health Complex around 12 pm on Friday.
The doctors shifted them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where they died in the morning.
However, the condition of Mantu is stated to be critical.
In another incident, two youths died reportedly after drinking excessive liquor during a pre-wedding party in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj area recently.
