Two-day festival set to kick off Feb 15

For the fifth time since its establishment, Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF), Bangladesh’s first mobile phone centric film competition, is going to be hosted for two days at the permanent campus of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), Ramchandrapur of the capital on February 15 to 16.

In this competition, 96 films were submitted from 34 countries in three categories – ‘Competition’, ‘One minute film’ and ‘Screening’. Famous filmmaker Prasun Rahman, professional cinematographer Rashed Zaman and film essay writer Bidhan Ribbru were the judges of this year’s competition.  

In the judiciary selections, 10 of the 28 films has been selected from the ‘Competition’ section, 2 films from the submitted 3 films of  ‘One Minute Film’ category, and 38 of the 65 films are to be screened in the ‘Screening’ section. Among the selected films, the ‘CinemaScope Best Film’ award for the best filmmakers of the Competition category and ‘ULAB Young Film Maker’ award for Best Film Director of ‘One Minute Film’ category will be given at the festival. Besides, certificates and gifts will be available to all selected directors participated in the festival as well.

With the motto ‘New Generation, New Tools, New Communication’, the festival is organized by CinemaScope which is a film apprenticeship program of ULAB. l
