Police held a student of Uttara University on charges of raping a young woman student from the city’s Wari area. “We arrested Allam Hossain, 22, a third year student of Computer Science Department of Uttara University in connection with a case filed against him for raping a female student of a polytechnic institute in the capital,” said officer-in-charge of Wari Police Station Azizur Rahman.

The arrestee was sent to a Dhaka court, he also said. In accordance with the case details, the female student came into contact with Allam at a coaching centre seven months back, he said, adding that the arrestee took her to his old Dhaka’s Avoy Das Lane residence and raped her and made videos footages of the incident, the police official informed. Allam raped the young woman several times after threatening to spread the videos on internet, he added.

The victim’s mother filed a case with Wari Police Station on Wednesday last.
