Two arrested with fake SSC question papers in Natore

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two people with fake SSC question papers at Gurudashpur upazila on Monday night.
The arrestees were identified as Taher and Shihab, said to be members of an organised gang of criminals engaged in question paper leak.
Tracking their mobile phones, a team of Rab-5 conducted a drive in Mosinda High School area and arrested the duo, Rab sources said. The Rab troops also seized mobile phones and some cash from their possessions.
College girl stabbed to death
UNB, Jhalakati
A female college student was stabbed to death by miscreants outside her house in Nalchity Upazila on Monday.
The deceased, 19-year-old Benazir Zahan Mukta, was a first-year undergraduate student at Jahalakati Government College. She was the daughter of Jahangir Hawladar, The murder took place at Baroikoron Kapuria.
Quoting family sources, police said Mukta went out of the house after receiving a phone call around 2:30pm. After a loud cry, family members rushed out of the house and found her lying in a pool of blood.
She died while being taken to a hospital.
Mohammad Solaiman, sub-inspector of Nalchity Police Station, said there were stab wounds to the neck, hands and other parts of the body. The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately.
2 held over attacking doctor
UNB, Bagerhat
Police on Monday arrested two individuals for attacking a doctor of the emergency unit at Sadar Hospital in the district.
The detainees were identified as Milon Khan, 39, son of Liakat Khan of Khardar area of Sadar upazila and Masum Billah, 45, son of Sheikh Sarowar Hossain of Harikhali area.
The victim Dr Imran Mohammad said that on Sunday night he was talking to an intern in the hospital when the duo without any provocation assaulted him.
At one stage, they also hit members of the hospital staff when they tried to rescue him, he said.
Officer-in-Charge of Bagerhat Model Police Station, Md Mahtabuddin said the accused were held after Dr Imran filed a case in this regard.
Man electrocuted in Satkhira
UNB, Satkhira
A man died after being electrocuted at a fish enclosure at Khejurdangi village of Sadar Upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as 35-year-old Khokon Hossain - a staff of the fish enclosure.
Mostafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Khokon came in contact with an electric wire on a dam while he was going fishing and died on the spot.
22 poor patients get govt allowance in Chandpur
UNB, Chandpur
The district office of Social Welfare Ministry on Monday distributed Tk 50,000 each among 22 poor patients.
They have been suffering from diseases including cancer, kidney, liver cirrhosis, paralysis and congenital heart diseases. The grants were handed over at a programme at conference room of Deputy Commissioner’s office.
Of the recipients, 13 were cancer patients, four were kidney patients, two liver cirrhosis, two stroke-related paralyzed patients and minor girl Sadiya, who has been a congenital heart patient since birth. All of them are residents of Chandpur Sadar Upazila.
