With the slogan ‘Eye Care for All’ the World Sight Day-2015 was observed in a befitting manner in Chapainawabganj yesterday.  The speakers at a meeting on the occasion said 80 percent blindness can be prevented by timely treatment and surgery. They disclosed that there are 28.50 crores blind people in the world and 7.5 lakh of them are in Bangladesh. One person is going blind in every five seconds and one child in every minute, they added. They suggested all people to test eyes at least once a year to avoid blindness. Chapainawabganj district unit of Bangladesh Jatiya Andha Kallyan Samity and Chapainawabganj Eye Hospital jointly arranged a rally and discussion on the occasion.
The rally was taken out from the hospital premises and after parading the main roads of the town it ended at the same venue. After the rally, a discussion was held at the conference room of the hospital with chairman of the Chapainawabganj district unit of Bangladesh Jatiya Andha Kallyan Samity Dr Ayaz Uddin presided.
