There is no headmaster in 313 government primary schools in Nilphamari. According to sources at the district primary education office, there are 947 government primary schools in entire district and out of which, the number of schools running without headmasters are 313.
The academic activities in these schools have been greatly hampered as discipline has almost broken down there without the head teachers.
This is even more so because the teachers, who have been made headmaster-in-charge, are weak in administrative job and not being abide by their colleagues, it is alleged.
In upzilas, there are 31 schools in Kishoreganj, 92 in Jaldhaka, 55 in Dimla, 60 in Domar, 62 in Sadar and 13 schools in Saidpur are running without headmasters.
Sources said recruitment of headmasters in primary schools has remained suspended since 2013. And in the meantime, the headmasters of those schools went into retirement.
District primary education officer Dilip Kumar Bonik said the higher authorities concerned has been informed about the matter. However, he has expressed his optimism that the prevailing problem will be solved very soon.
