NARAYANGANJ: The district administration here on Wednesday held a preparatory meeting to ensure peaceful celebration of Durga Puja festival of the Hindu community which kicks off on October 19, reports BSS. Chaired by acting deputy commissioner Siddiqur Rahman, the meeting was addressed by ADC (general) Gausul Azam, additional police super Md Zakaria, Sadar UNO Afroza Akter Chowdhury, president of the district unit of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad Shankar Shaha, president of the district Hindu, Bouddha Christian Oikkya Parishad Gopinath Das, president of district Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Advocate Chandan Shill and representatives of different puja mondop committees in the district spoke on the occasion.
It was informed in the meeting that a total of 192 puja mandaps would be setup in five upazila of the district and five vigilance teams have been formed headed by five UNO’s to keep vigil over the area. Dhaka Electric Supply Company Ltd (DESCO) has been directed for uninterrupted power supply in the puja mandaps during the festival. Two police men and ten Ansar would be deployed around each puja mandaps. Both police and plain clothed police men and members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will patrol around the mandaps till Bijoya Dashami. CC camera would be setup in the puja mandaps. Two control rooms would be setup one in DC office and another Narayanganj district police office.
