Awami League senior leader and chairman of parliamentary standing committee on law, justice and parliament affairs ministry Suranjit Sengupta underwent cardiac surgery at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore yesterday morning, reports UNB. The operation started at 6 am (Bangladesh time) and ended a 9 am and he has been kept at the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU) of the hospital after the surgery, said a press release of the parliamentary standing committee on law, justice and parliament affairs ministry. Dr T I C Aung and Dr James Aung of the cardiology department of the hospital conducted the operation. The Awami League leader will be shifted to a cabin within two days, hospital sources said. After competing treatment in cardiology department, he will take treatment from hematology department. Suranjit was taken to Singapore on October 5 for cardiac problem.
