Rajshahi Kings fast-bowler Kamrul Islam Rabbi said that they have remained two important matches of the league round of the ongoing Bangladesh Cricket League (BPL) which will be crucial and challenging for them to win.
Kamrul also said that their team to progress the play-off phase will be ensured if they could triumph both two matches of the BPL.
The matches Rajshahi Kings will play back-to-back last will be played in Chattogram leg, the first of which will be held on January 29 against holders Rangpur Riders, the team they thrashed by five runs in the first leg. The team will play their second but last league round fixture against Sylhet Sixers in Chattogram on January 30.
“The state of the team is good, Mashaallah. We won the last match. Now we’re in challenging position because we’ve left two matches ahead that are so important to win for heading into the play-offs,” said Kamrul Islam Rabbi, who played so far seven matches for Kings, in where he captured 10 wickets with the best figures of 4-10 that he did against Comilla Victorians.
“But the team is in good shape. The combination of the team has been perfect. Batsmen have come into their forms. Besides them, bowlers are going their jobs well,” Kamrul told media after their training session at the M.A Aziz Stadium in the port city yesterday.
“All the teams of the BPL are stronger and furnished their respective teams. Now those who will perform better in the field will get the result. If we could perform well in the ground, we’ll have chances to go into the top four teams,” he added.
He said that this time they have to perform capitalizing the forms of players to step into the play-offs of the Twenty20 tournament.
“We’re, of course, confident. We’re in good position so far,” he said.
“Now it’s our turn to perform. If we could perform well, in that case, we’ll have chances to move into the play-offs,” he also said.
The paceman said that every team device a special plan for Mustafiz to handle him well whose impact fall on the other bowlers.
“It is true that each team has different types of thinking and kept ready different planning for Mustafiz. When a team is needed to take 10 runs in the last over to win the match, if it’s against Mustafiz, it’ll be definitely tough to score against him,” he said.
“The opponent may think to charge me or other bowlers, in that case, it’s really difficult for us. Then, I’ve a target if I could bowl checking boundary. If I could finish well and keep 10-12 runs for the last over, in that case, our chances to win the match remain more,” he noted.
“Actually we’ve played Tests. But if you see my performance you’ll get to see in Dhaka Premier League (DPL), in where I was the highest wicket-taker. That’s not too longer period. It’s just two years ago. So, I’ve experience to play short format of games,” he replied to a media query.
“We played Test because I could have bowled in longer period in first class cricket. I’ve that habit of bowling in longer spell still now. And, I enjoy much T20 and ODI matches. And hopefully I’m doing well. I’m learning daily to do well further and try to learn,” he said, signing off.
