Sk Jamal, Rahmatganj share four goals evenly

Title aspirants Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club again dropped points after a 2-2 draw with Rahmatganj MFS in the Bangladesh Premier League football yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Siyo Zunapiyo led Rahmatganj in very eighth minute and captain Monday Osagie netted the other goal in the eleventh hour while Solomon King and Luciano Emanuel scored a piece for Jamal to manage a point.

Later, reigning champions Abahani Limited inflicted a 2-0 defeat on Muktijoddha Sangsad in the other match. Mukitijoddha conceded an own goal to down in the first half.  Ballo Famousa doubled the lead for Abahani.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club eying to regain the title suffered a big blow going down to newcomers Bashundhara Kings by a solitary goal in their league opener and their frustration was doubled with Muktijoddha making a huge upset thrashing the All Yellows by 3-0 in the next match.

On the day Jamal stunned with an eight minutes strike from Siyo Zunapiyo and had to struggle much to recover the arrear and to take lead.

However, Rahmatganj dazed the title contenders with the first move of the match when their midfielder Rakibul Islam sent a typical lob form their area which spotted inside the box and sharp-witted Ciyo Zunapyio of Congo received the ball and just scattered his marker Ariful with a body dodge before beating the advancing goalkeeper Nayeem (1-0).

Solomon King, who spoiled the golden opportunity to have the equaliser for Jamal on 20th minute missing a penalty, drew level with a spectacular bicycle kick on 40th minute following Rahmatganj keeper Ariful denied his (Solomon King) spot kick with a left-hand dive.     

It was a lofted ball came from the mid-circle and the Kyrgyz forward David Bruce header dropped inside the box and Solomon King just finished it in style (1-1).

After the equaliser, Jamal looked hostile to grab the match control to win it and were also came very closer but their Argentine forward Luciano and Solomon King of Congo failed to mark their target from consecutive chances came to their ways.

Luciano, who looked shaky from their first match, on the day also could not proved his potential but to score a lone goal to send  Jamal into lead on 73rd minute when he entered into box edging past two defenders before placing the ball (2-1).

Jamal, looked to celebrate their first win after two defeats in the first two matches in a row but the Old Dhaka outfit rubbed salts in the wound just leveling the margin in the last minute of four minutes injury period to snatch a point from the giants.

This time Rahmatganj captain Monday sent his super diving header into the low corner of the far post on a long cross from the left side (2-2).
