The draft of the President’s speech would be placed at the first cabinet meeting of the Sheikh Hasina government today (Monday). The cabinet meeting would be held at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), with PM Sheikh Hasina in the chair. At the meeting, five other points on the agenda—the draft of the Representation of the People (Amendment) Act, 2019; draft of the Brick Manufacturing and Brick Kilns Establishment (Control) Act, 2019; draft of the Bangladesh National Social Welfare Council Act, 2018; draft of the Bangladesh Industrial and Technical Assistance Center (BITAC) Act, 2018; and National Strategic Plan on Autism Affairs would be placed at the meeting. A high-ranking official of the Cabinet Division said the cabinet ministers would attend the meeting. A 47-member cabinet, headed by Sheikh Hasina, took oath on January 7 this year after a landslide victory in the country’s 11th parliamentary elections on December 30 last year.
