Rajshahi Kings batsman Marshall Ayub on Sunday said that they seek to take their revenge against Comilla Victorians in the opening match of the third leg in Dhaka at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
The Kings lost to the Victorians in their third match in Dhaka on January 11 by five wickets due to Shahid Afridi’s all-round display with bat and ball as the globe-trotting all-rounder grabbed all the three important wickets and an unbeaten nine runs to slot the team home.
“I’ve got opportunity to hold practice together after being arrived in Dhaka. The surface of Mirpur helps bowlers a bit during the match at noon. It is plus point for us. We have got all opportunity to hold two practice sessions in Dhaka to prepare ourselves for this important match,” said Marshall Ayub, who played his first match in BPL-6 in Sylhet against Dhaka Dynamites, where he smacked 45 that played a catalyst role behind their 20-run victory.
“It is obvious when you beat a top team of the tournament, your confident level along with the shape of the team will be different. Our next match against a big team of Comilla, that’s right. But it will be seen in the field what happens,” Ayub told media after their practice session at the national academy of the SBNCS yesterday.
“Of course, we will fight against them. We lost a match to them. So, our main target will be taken our revenge against them in tomorrow’s match (Monday),” he added.
Comilla Victorians all-rounder Ziaur Rahman on the other hand said that they are poised to face Kings’ bowlers especially their pace spearhead Mustafizur Rahman.
“Mustafiz(ur Rahman), of course, is very good bowler, no doubt,” said Ziaur Rahman, who claimed they will be ahead of Kings due to the form of their batsmen the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Liam Dawson and Shahid Afridi.
“But the most important thing is that the batsmen we have in the team are all in good form. All are in good touch,” Rahman told media.
“Hopefully they will handle him in right way,” he added.
Inspired by winning the last match in Sylhet, he said that they believe they will do better in the next match.
“Overall, our team is very good. I thank to my team management to form such a well-balanced team,” he said.
“We lost win-like match and then won four matches in a row. Our confidence got a boost after winning the last match. The lacking we had in some areas at the initial stage we already overcame it,” he also said.”
Inshaallah, we will do better further in the next times,” he said.
“Each team in BPL is good. In Twenty20 format, where time is short, in that sense- the team who can gel them as early as possible will be stayed ahead. Comilla Victorians did that thing.”
When asked about Evin Lewis, Zia said, “Lewis is fit, He is now in good stead.”
