Normal life is being disrupted in Jashore as an intense cold wave is sweeping over and thick fog blanketing the 8 upazilas in the district for the last few days.
People -- especially from low-income groups, homeless -- are the worst sufferers.
Severity of the cold wave intensifies after midday and turns almost unbearable in the evening. Dense fog and mist overcast the sky keeping the sun invisible. Plying of vehicles on all routes has become almost impossible. Shopping malls and kitchen markets in the district witnessed very dull sales as very few people go for shopping.
The chilly weather keeps them indoors. Destitute people are trying to combat this bone-chilling cold sitting around fire. When contacted Meteorological Department Director Shamsuddin Ahmed said three cold waves swooped over Jashore this month
About 6 to 8 degrees Celsius temperature has been continuing in Jashore for the last one week, and will continue more three days.
