The Dhaka University (DU) authority here yesterday appointed five returning officers to help the Chief Returning Officer to conduct the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections.
On January 17, DU Vice-chancellor appointed Professor SM Mahfuzur Rahman of International Business department as the Chief Returning Officer to conduct the DUCSU polls under the 8 (e) section of the existing DUCSU constitution.
The five returning officers are– Soil, Water and Environment department Chairperson Professor Dr Md Didar-ul-Alam, Mathematics department Professor Dr Amal Krishna Halder, Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies Institute Director Prof Mahbuba Nasreen, Islamic History and Culture department Prof Dr. Abdul Basir and Computer Science and Engineering department Prof Dr Mustafizur Rahman, said a DU press release.
A 15-member Advisory Council was also formed on Thursday for of the long- awaited DUCSU and hall union elections which have remained dysfunctional for 28 years.
Another report adds: The Dhaka University (DU) authority here yesterday formed a seven-member code of conduct formulation committee ahead of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Hall union elections. DU Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Md. Akhtaruzzaman formed the code of conduct formulation committee with DU Pro-VC (Academic) Professor Dr Nasreen Ahmad as its convener, said a DU press release.
The other members of the committee are-Dhaka University Teachers’ Association President and Earth and Environmental Sciences Faculty Dean Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal, Law Faculty Dean Dr. Md. Rahmat Ullah, Arts Faculty Dean Dr. Abu Md. Delwar Hossain, Social Science Faculty Dean Prof Sadeka Halim, Economics department Prof Mahbubul Mokaddem (M M Akash), and Television, Film and Photography department Professor Dr AJM Shafiul Alam Bhuiyan.
