CAB Under-17 team arrive in Dhaka

The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Under-17 cricket team from India arrived in Dhaka to play a string of three day matches against the BCB Under-17 cricket team yesterday. The CAB arrived in Bangladesh at a moment when two consecutive international series was postponed over security concerns. But the CAB coach Gautam Shome didn’t see any security threat here, stating Bangladesh as the safe country for cricket.
Australia men’s cricket team and South Africa women’s team have recently postponed their tour here. “We have no problem regarding the security issue here. We consider Bangladesh as our second home,” he told the reporters upon his side’s arrival in the Bangladesh.
“There is no reason to feel problem over security issue here. The country is safe for cricket,” he added.
During the 19-day-long four, they will play four 3-day matches series against the home side. All the matches will be held at two different venues including Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan (BKSP) and Rangpur Cricket Garden. The first two matches of the series will be taken place at BKSP Ground-3 in between October 7-9 and 11-13 respectively with one day break. After the end of the Dhaka chapter, the visiting side will travel to begin their second chapter in Rangpur, where they will play their last two matches to be held on October 16-18 and 20-22 also with a day gap.
The visitors will accommodate at international dormitories at BKSP before going to play in the northern district of the country.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) meanwhile announced a 14-member squad of BCB Under-17 for the home series. Aminul Islam Biplob will spearhead the home side. Akbar Ali will support Biplob as vice captain. A total of four players including Ridoy Islam, Shafiul Ahmed Fahim, Hasan Mahmud, Rakibul Hasan, Sajib Miah have been kept standby.
BCB squad: Aminul Islam Biplob (captain), Akbar Ali (vice-captain), Foysal Ahmed, Ratul Khan, Sojibul Islam, Shamim Patwari, Mahmudul Hasan, Mortaza Ahmed Maheen, Shahadat Ridoy, Ishaq Ali, Nowshad Iqbal, Sharif Islam, Mohammad Rony and Mukidul Islam.
