Officials of Zhejiang Jindun Holding Group Company Ltd, a Chinese company, yesterday paid a visit to the project site in Mirsarai Economic Zone. The Chinese company has expressed interest to set up a coal-based power plant with a capacity of 13,000 megawatt in the under-construction economic zone at Mirsarai upazila in Chittagong. While visiting the site, Zhou Jiancan, Chairman of Zhejiang Jindun Holding Group Company Ltd said
that operations at the coal-based power plant might start within three months if everything went accordingly.
BEZA Deputy Secretary Moloy Chowdhury and Mirsarai Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ziah Ahmed Sumon were present among others during the visit.
Bangladesh Economic Zone Authority (BEZA) is planning to set up an economic zone in Mirsarai named Mirsarai Economic Zone which will house sub-economic zones providing all kinds of facilities to investors.
The economic zone is going to be the largest investment hub with some 15,000 acres of land beside the Bay of Bengal.
The BEZA will also construct a four-lane 16km-long road connection from Dhaka-Chittagong highway for smooth business operation.
It may be mentioned that Zhejiang Jindun Holding Group Company Ltd has already sought 1,000 acres of land for establishing the power plant.
