President Abdul Hamid yesterday attended a doa and milad mahfil seeking salvation of the departed soul of Syed Ashraful Islam, the former Awami League general secretary and public administration minister. The programme, organised by family members, was held in the city's Officer's Club premises in the afternoon. Syed Ashraf died of lung cancer at Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok on Thursday at the age of 67.
