Pragatishil Chhatra Jote, a platform of seven left-leaning student bodies, will observe strike today (Wednesday) at all the educational institutions across the country to press home their four -point demand including retake of medical admission tests. They announced it from a press conference held at Madhur Canteen of the Dhaka University (DU) campus at noon. While reading out a written statement, Chhatra Front Secretary Imran Habib Romman said that they had to call the strike as the government did not pay attention of the medical aspirants' logical demands yet. Expressing solidarity with the admission seekers, he said that the leftist student organisations would declare tougher movements if government does not take any effective measures to press their demands.
Other demands including, stoppage of question paper leak, assurance to punish culprits involved in forgery in admission tests and punishment of the police members involved in attack on admission seekers march towards the PMO recently.
Meanwhile, demonstrating medical admission seekers gathered at the Central Shaheed Minar in the morning and their sit-in continued till 2pm. They chanted slogans, demanding retake of medical admission tests after canceling the results published earlier. Khaled Saiful, one of the co-ordinators of the movement, said that they would discuss with all the protesters across the country to hold a massive demonstration in the capital soon if the government does not take initiatives by Tuesday.
