Rapid Action Battalion members arrested four ‘JMB operatives’ from Taraganj upazila yesterday. The elite force seized a pistol, a revolver, two magazines, three rounds of bullets, several jihadi books and leaflets from their possessions during the raid. Commanding Officer of Rangpur RAB-13 Battalion Mozammel Haque disclosed the information at a press briefing at RAB-13 battalion headquarters in Alamnagar area of the city yesterday.

“On a tip off, a special operational team of Militancy Cell of RAB-13 conducted a raid in Taraganj area of Rangpur and arrested the JMB militants red-handed with arms, ammunitions, ‘jihadi’ books and leaflets,” he said.

The arrested JMB militants include its chief coordinator for northern region Abdur Rahman Biswas alias Fuad alias Niaz, 22, of Kurigram district.

The other arrested persons are Akhinur Islam, 23, of Dinajpur and Lokman Ali alias Korban, 55, and Mizanur Rahman, 38, of Rangpur.

Separate cases were filed under the Arms Act and Anti-terrorism Act.
