Prices of some essentials and vegetables remained high even though their supply is almost normal in kitchen markets in Bogra town. This has been attributed largely to higher demand as people want a change in their food menu after the Eid-ul-Azha feast.
The prices of vegetables had remained high since the end of July when their supply started falling for damage by floods.
It has been found that the prices of vegetables are still very high at the wholesale market in Mahasthangar despite the rise in supply.
The people, especially those belonging to lower-middle and low income groups, have been affected by the high prices of vegetables.
The weather has now improved after a recent rainfall, but the situation has not changed in the kitchen markets.
However, the price of green chilli eased and sold between Tk 180 and Tk200 a kilogram in retail market on Sunday. The prices of other vegetables have not fallen.
