An eight-day film festival titled ‘Bangladesh Short Film and Documentary Film Festival 2018’, organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), was held from December 8 to Decemebr 15 in 64 districts of the country simultaneously.
The closing and award giving ceremony of the 2nd Bangladesh Short and Documentary Film Festival was held on December 15 at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
A five-member jury committee review a total of 70 films. The committee selected 48 short films and 22 documentary films for screening this year’s festival.
From the selected films, ‘Best Film’ received Tk 1 lakh while ‘Best Filmmaker’ got Tk 50,000 and ‘special jury award’ got Tk 25,000 for both short films and documentary films.
The Best Short Film award went to Shojon Majhi and Ashim Sarker for ‘Golpo Shongkhep’. Bratto Amin’s ‘Operation Jackpot’ won Best Documentary. Best Director (Short) award was given to SM Kamrul Ahsan for ‘Ghran’, and to Tasmiah Afrin Mou for ‘Statement after My Poet Husband’s Death’. In the documentary category, Jhumur Asma Jui won the award for Best Director.
