Mobile network operators have suspended the operation of 3G and 4G services across the country two hours after resuming it. Earlier yesterday evening, they resumed 3G and 4G internet services after 27 hours of shutdown. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) sent an email to all mobile operators to resume the internet services around 6.30 pm, according to the spokesperson of a leading mobile operator. On Saturday afternoon, the BTRC had directed mobile operators to shut down their data services ahead of the 11th national election. As per the BTRC directive, users of mobile data were barred from uploading videos or pictures on social media.
The services were also suspended for 10 hours on Thursday night and resumed around 8.30 am on Friday. The services remained unavailable from 3pm Saturday to Sunday midnight, BTRC Senior Assistant Director (Media) Jakir Hossain Khan told. In the latest development, the BTRC has issued another notification asking the telecom operators to shut down the service again and it will remain until any further notice from the BTRC.
