‘No compromise on question of Liberation War’

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Akhtaruzzaman on Tuesday said that there will be no compromise on the question of Bangladesh, Father of the Nation and the great Liberation War. “The great achievement of Bangalee nation was the independence of the country which we got through the great Liberation War”, he said while addressing as the chief guest at Bijoy Mancha in city’s Shahbag area.

He also paid rich tribute to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Cultural events and discussions are being held every afternoon from December 16 and to be continued till 28 December at the “Bijoy Mancha’, organised by Sammilita Muktijudda Sangsad and Sammilita Sangskritik Jote. Vice-President of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote Jhuna Chowdhury and Vice-President of Sammilita Muktijuddha Sangsad Osman Ali spoke on the occasion with Sammilita Sangskritik Jote President Golam Kuddus in the chair.

IU goes on 14-day winter vacation today

The Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia is going on a 14-day winter vacation from today, IU register office sources said on Wednesday.

IU acting registrar SM Abdul Latif told Independent that both the academic and administrative activities of the university would remain closed from today to January 12.

The residential halls of the university would also remain closed from Friday to January 11, he added.

IU gets new transport administrator

Prof M Rezuanul Islam of Biotechnology and Genetics Engineering department has been appointed as the new Transport Administrator of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia.

University Vice-chancellor Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari appointed him to the post for the next one year, IU acting Registrar SM Abdul Latif said on Friday.  He was appointed to the post as the tenor of previous Transport Administrator Professor M Anwar Hossain of Islamic History and Culture department has already been completed, he added.
