Grand alliance candidate engaged in robust campaigning

OUR CORRESPONDENT, Pirojpur

Only four days are left for campaigning before the next national polls slated for December 30.

Five candidates are contesting the election from the Pirojpur-1 constituency. Among them, only advocate SM Rezaul Karim, the Grand Alliance candidate, is campaigning hard. He is said to have a clean image and is taking part in the polls for the first time. AL candidates were elected five times from this seat. BNP, Jamaat and Jatiya Party candidates were also elected five times from here.  At present, there is an internal feud within the AL in this parliamentary seat. District AL president AKMA Awal, who is also the current lawmaker, had filed his nomination paper as an independent candidate, but later withdrew it.

Grand Alliance candidate SM Rezaul Karim has been working hard in his election campaigns. He is attending courtyard meetings and public meetings in various areas of the constituency.

He is believed to have been getting good response from the voters. He is showcasing the AL-led government’s development works across the country, including in the constituency.

Besides, he is visiting the houses of ill persons and also meeting the sick in hospitals. In this constituency, the Jatya Oikyafront candidate, Shamim Bin Sayedee, son of Delwar Hossain Sayedee, who received the life sentence in the war crimes trial, could not be seen anywhere.  Even his posters and banners seem to be absent in the constituency.

Jatiya Party (Ershad) candidate Md Nazrul Islam has extended his support to the AL candidate. However, Islami Andolon candidate Masum Billah is seen campaigning in the area. CPB candidate Dr Tapan Kumar Basu is not holding campaigns.
