US Ambassador calls on DU VC

US Ambassador Earl Milleron Saturday called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman at the latter’s office. The ambassador was accompanied by Madam Ambassador Michelle Admelman, Cultural Affairs Officer Joshua Kamp and Cultural Affairs Specialist Faroha Suhrawardy of the embassy, said a press release. During the meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest. The VC apprised the ambassador of academic programs and history of Dhaka University.
In reply to a question of the ambassador, the VC said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the best student of the university. The VC thanked the ambassador for his visit to Dhaka University.

Teachers’ syndication election held at Nazrul University

The Pro-Awami League ‘Bangabandhu Blue Panel’ won the teachers syndication election at Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University for the next two years.
Dr Sidhartha Dey and Azizur Rahman Bhuiyan Abir were elected as president and general secretary respectively, said a press release.
Other office-bearers of the 15-meber committee are Assistant Prof Nazrul Islam (vice president) Assistant Prof Subrata Kumer Das (joint secretary) Assistant Prof Al Zabir (organising secretary) Assistant Prof. Alvy Riasat Malik (treasurer) Assistant Prof Nusrat Sharmin Tania (office secretary), Assistant Prof Nila Saha (media, publication and research secretary) and Assistant Prof Umme Farhana (cultural and sports secretary).

IU Sheikh Hasina Hall provost takes charge

The authorities of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia appointed Prof Dr Shelina Nasrin of accounting and information systems department as the new provost of Deshratna Sheikh Hasina Hall of the university yesterday on the campus.  The newly appointed provost took charge from the former provost Prof Dr M Mizanur Rahman of English department around 11:30am.
