Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) of Khulna has taken initiatives to preserve the historical places of Liberation War located in Khulna as well as to establish an independence war museum. The tender process has already been completed in five districts under Khulna division for the implementation of the preservation involving cost of Tk 1.62 crore.
Talking to BSS, Executive Engineer of LGED Rakibul Islam said the independence of Bangladesh cost the lives of 30 lakh people and in exchange for the honour of two lakh mothers and sisters of this country. A lot of places in this country still bear the memories of the Independence War.
“That’s why the government has taken the initiatives for preserving the memories and places of the war and to build independence war museum,” he said.
Already the government has completed the tender process to initiate the project implementation, he said, adding the government has planned to invest Tk 32 lakh to build Batiaghata Baroaria Shahid Memorial, Tk 33 lakh for
Dakop’s Bajua High School Boddhobhumi, Tk 33 lakh for Koyra Shahid Narayan Camp, Tk 33 lakh for Kopilmuni war field under Paikgachha upazila and Tk 30 lakh for Ikhori Potenga Fazlul Haque High School (Warfield) under Terokhada upazila in Khulna. Sub-assistant engineer of LGED Mohammad Saiful Rahman said the project will start in the first quarter of next year.
