Community health care providers 
demand job regularisation

Health workers under the banner of Sirajganj District Community Health Care Providers Association formed a human chain at Chowrasta intersection in Sirajganj town yesterday demanding regularisation of their job.
Several hundred healthcare providers from different places in the district gathered at the place and formed the human chain in the morning. Later, a rally was held at the same place with Hasan Imam, President of Community Health Care Provider Association, Rajshahi unit in the chair.
The programme was also conducted by Shifat Ahmed Khan, general secretary of the organisation, Sirajganj district unit.
The speakers said about 40 crores patients have already taken health services from 13,681 community clinics in the country since the beginning of the service. At beginning, the government pledged to regularise the job of around 4500 health care providers. But now, the government has decided to bring all the health care providers under a trusty board. The decision of government has caused of frustration for the health care providers and their family members. They are now facing uncertainty over their livelihoods and future because their service age for the government jobs has already exceeded.  
Giving an ultimatum, the demonstrators warned the government of tougher agitations if their demand is not met by next two weeks. They have threatened to stage sit-in programme on the western side of Bangabandhu Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge so that communication between Dhaka and northern region is snapped.
In Chapainawabganj, community health care providers (CHCP) working at community clinics formed  a  human chain in front of Chapainawabganj Press Club on Friday demanding  nationalisation of their job.
More than one hundred CHCPs coming from different corners of the district took part in the human chain programme.
After the human chain a rally was also staged there. Secretary general of CHCP Association Afaj Uddin and Chapainawabganj district president of the association Mahfuj Raihan and some others addressed the gathering.
