To celebrate the 48th Victory Day, a day-long event titled ‘Anwar Cement-Channel i Bijoy Mela 2018’ was held on the Channel i premises in the capital yesterday.
Earlier on the day at 11:05am, the day-long fair, organized by Channel i for the 14th time, was inaugurated with releasing balloons in the presence of theatre personalities Ataur Rahman, Mamunur Rashid, singer Azad Rahman, air vice marshal Sultan Mahmud, gallantry award-winning freedom fighters in different categories such as Bir Uttam, Bir Pratik and Bir Bikram, managing director of Impress Telefilm Limited and Channel i Faridur Reza Sagor, representatives of civil society, veterans cultural personalities and editors from the different media outlets.
At the fair, seven memorial pillars and 11 spots were located on the fair premises in memory of seven Birshreshta and 11 sectors of the Liberation War.
Joining the programme, freedom fighters, sector commanders and people from various sections expressed their feelings, remembered the days of the Liberation War and shared their story of that time.
The fair featured inspiring country songs performed by Dr Arup Ratan Chowdhury, Fakir Alamgir, Farida Parveen, Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya and Konal, among other. The programme also included a performance of flute music by Gazi Abdul Hakim.
Alongside, a Liberation War-based play titled ‘Post Master’ directed by Rezanoor Rahman was staged at the festival. Mahidul Islam recited patriotic poems to the audiences.
With the theme of the Liberation War, an art competition was also held participated by children of different ages under the direction of artist Moniruzzaman.
