Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team will fly for India to play a string of youth one-day matches in the third week of November, just after the end of the home series with Zimbabwe.
The southern African nation is scheduled to tour in Bangladesh on November 1, just three days ahead of the start of the series. The visiting side will also play five youth ODI series against local side at two different venue grounds including Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar.
During the India tour, Bangladesh youth side will play five ODI youth match series against their Indian counterparts as a part of preparation for the upcoming ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2016 to be hosted by Bangladesh.
The 11th edition of the showpiece event will be held in between January 20 and February 15 with the participation of the sixteen international U-19 cricketing teams including 10-nations full ICC members.
All the matches of the bilateral series will be held in Kolkata. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will be signed within two days.
Acknowledging the matter of India tour, Nazmul Abedin Fahim, national manager of BCB Game Development, said that the team will go to India for 10 days to play five one day youth series.
“Our team will tour in India for the last 10 days of November. They will play five ODI youth series on the stroke of the period. All the matches are set to take place in Kolkata,” said Fahim.
“Along with that, the youth side of Bangladesh will also play a string of one day games against their West Indian counterparts ahead of the juniors’ World Cup. They are due to play some matches with Sri Lanka but it is not being held,” he added.
After the Eid vacation, the youth side resumed their practice at BCB National Cricket Academy (NCA) yesterday. Under the guideline of their head coach Mizanur Rahman Babul, only 16 players were present. Some of the players of the preliminary squad including skipper Mehedi Hasan Miraz is playing in the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL).
In absence of Stuart Law, technical advisor for the Under-19, Babul is looking after the side.
