The 2015 edition of a 100-member Bangladesh youth delegation programme will visit India from today to till October 11 in an effort to strengthen people-to-people contact between the two countries, reports UNB. The High Commission of India along with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India is hosting the event. The flagging off event was organised at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre yesterday. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran addressed the members of the delegation.
The first Mountaineer to scale Mt Everest from Bangladesh Musa Ibrahim, singer and actor Partha Barua, well known model and actress of Bangladesh Bidya Sinha Mim, were present at the flag-off event. The first such Bangladesh youth delegation had visited India in 2012, and this programme has been continuing every year since then. Members of the delegation are young Bangladeshi men and women, drawn from diverse institutions of Bangladesh and include doctors, engineers, management, humanities and science students, artists and journalists.
This year’s itinerary for the delegation includes visits to New Delhi as well as Agra, Jaipur and Kolkata.
The delegation will see prominent cultural and historical sites in India, apart from holding interactions in educational, business, IT and technological institutions of India.
