On this day in 1971,  just six days before the nation's great victory against the occupational Pakistani forces, Ruhul Amin, Engine Room Artificer of Bangladesh Naval Ship (BNS) Palash, embraced martyrdom at the hands of razakar bahini members (collaborators) on the riverbank of Rupsha as soon as he got to the place after swimming nearly quarter kilometer of the river from Palash.
