Approval of 732 posts to bolster defence forces

The secretary committee on administrative reforms affairs has approved four proposals including 732 posts to revamp military organisations.

The approval was given at the meeting of the secretary committee with the Cabinet Division secretary in the chair yesterday.

Of the military organisations, 396 posts for Maintenance, Repair and Overhauling unit of BAF Bashar of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF), 30 posts for BNS Sheikh Mujib, 224 posts for BNS Durgam and BNS Nishan of Bangladesh Navy and 82 posts for the National Defence College (NDC) would be created.

 The 396 posts, including one post of Air Commodore, two posts of Group Captain, two posts of Flight Lieutenant, seven posts of Wing Commander, 10 posts of Squadron Leader, 13 posts of Master Warrant Officer, 25 posts of senior warrant officer and 160 posts of Sergeant for the Maintenance, Repair and Overhauling unit of BAF Bashar of BAF will be created to overhaul the MI helicopters for the force.

 Of the 224 posts for BNS Durgam and BNS Nishan, 112 posts, including one post of Commander, eight posts of Lieutenant Commander and eight posts of Lieutenant would be created for smooth operation of warships.

 Thirty posts of military driver will be created for the BNS Sheikh Mujib.

 Under the proposals, 82 posts, including two posts of Colonel/Captain/Group Captain, three posts of Major/Lt Commander/Squadron Leader and two posts of Captain/Flight Lieutenant, would be created to strengthen the NDC, a government-owned college for training of civil and military officers.
