The HM Ershad-led Jatiya Party (JP) will contest the 11th parliamentary elections from 29 seats under the platform of the Awami-League-led 14-party Grand Alliance.
Apart from this, the JP will field candidates in 143 constituencies in the upcoming national polls slated for December 30 separately under the party banner.
The JP’s newly-appointed secretary general Mashiur Rahman Ranga confirmed the development yesterday.
The AL had earlier said that it would leave 47 seats for JP.
The candidates who will contest in the upcoming national polls as part of the Grand Alliance are Major (Retd) Rana Mohammad Sohel from Nilpahamri-03 constituency, Ahsan Adelur Rahman from Nilphamari-04 constituency, Golam Mohammad Kader from Lalmonirhat-03, Moshiur Rahman Ranga from Rangpur-01, HM Ershad from Rangpur-03, AKM Mostafizur Rahman from Kurigram-01, Ponir Uddin Ahmed from Kurigram-02, Barrister Shamim Haider Patwary from Gaibandha-01, Shariful Islam Jinnah from Bogura-02, Nurul Islam Talukder from Bogura-03, Nurul Islam Omar from Bogura-06, Advocate Altaf Ali from Bogura-7, Golam Kibria Tipu from Barisal-03, Nasrin Jahan Ratna from Barisal-06, Dr Rustam Ali Farazi from Pirojpur-03, Shafiullah Al Munir from Tangail-05, Begum Raushan Ershad from Mymensingh-04, Fakhrul Islam from Mymensingh-08, Mujibul Huq Chunnu from Kishoreganj-03, Syed Abu Hossain Babla from Dhaka-04, Kazi Firoz Rashid from Dhaka-06, Liakat Hossain Khoka from Narayanganj-03, Selim Osman from Narayanganj-05, Pir Fazlur Rahman Misbah from Sunamganj-04, Yah Ya Chowdhury from Sylhet-02, Ziaul Huq Mridha from Brahmmanbaria-02, Lieutenant General (Retd) Masud Uddin Chowdhury from Feni-03, Md Noman from Lakshmipur-02 and Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud from the Chattogram-05 constituency.
As per the revised polls schedule, the 11th parliamentary election will be held on December 30. The Election Commission had initially fixed November 28 as the deadline for filing nomination papers, December 2 for scrutiny and December 9 as the last date of withdrawal of nomination papers.
