The monthly allowances for a total of 573 freedom fighters [FF] of the district have been suspended, said District Muktijoddhah Commander M A Wadud
 According to sources at the district Social Welfare Office, the move has been taken on the basis of some anomalies found in the records of these freedom fighters. A meeting was held in this connection on September 22 with Deputy Commissioner Abdus Sabur Mandal in the chair. M A Wadud and other relevant people were present in the meeting.
In the light of a government circular, the decision on the suspension of the FF allowance was taken. The allowances are usually disbursed through UNO offices. However, all the affected freedom fighters can appeal to the higher authorities concerned by October 28 next for revision and reconsideration of their allowances.
