The lone strike by Momodou Bah guided Chattogram Abahani Limited to move into the quarterfinal in the Walton Independence Cup defeating Rahmatganj MFS by a solitary goal yesterday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. Nofel Sporting, a team fom Noakhali, took a sweet revenge over Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club when they blanked the latter by 2-0 in another match.. Ashraful sent Nofel into lead in 28th minute and Roman sealed the victory a few seconds before the final whistle. Earlier in the Federation Cup Nofel went down to MSC by an identical margin.

Back to fist match. Chattogram Abahani, who blanked Nofel Sporting Club in their first match, ensured the quarterfinal berth before  playing the group last match after winning two successive matches when any of the three other teams of the Group could join with the Chattogram outfit.

Rahmatganj, despite losing the game still have a slim hope to move advance when they have earned one point after a goalless draw with Mohammedan Sporting Club in their first match.

However, on the day Chattogram Abahani looked a bit slow mood at the initial stage and gradually got their tempo, when Rahmatganj, who were in a position to brighten their chances to move forward began the game with some paces and also put the favourites under good pressure.

Rahmatganj had a golden opportunity to take lead but were not lucky enough when an effort of Faysal Ahmed shattered the cross bar on 22nd minute.

It was quick move down the left through the midway and a perfectly measured pass from Didarul Alam set up Faysal to take chance when the forward took a strong right foot shot but the ball hit the cross bar.

It seemed in a video clip that the ball after hitting under the cross piece, the ball crossed goal-line but none of the players of Rahmatganj or the referees could not mark it.

Chattogram Abahani just surviving from a scare bounce back strongly to take the control of the match and took lead on 36th minute.

Momodou Bah, who scored two goals in previous match, became the top scorer wheeling away in delight after converting his header on a Kawshil Barua lovely right flank kick (1-0).
