Jomel Warrican, left-arm spinner of West Indies, tipped Dhaka Test ‘a must-win situation’ for them, and said that they are looking forward to stage a comeback and triumph the Dhaka Test.
Warrican also said that they will attempt their best to win the last Test, if they could draw by winning the match that will be bonus for them.
“We obviously want to leave with a win and don’t want to lose the series,” said Jomel Warrican, who picked six wickets in Chattogram Test with the best figures of 4-62.
“If we can draw the series from here, it’ll be a bonus for us as a unit. So, that’s the plan before going into this match,” Warrican told media after their first training session for the series-deciding Test at the BCB-National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground in Mirpur yesterday. The left-arm spinner said that they have full faith in themselves if they could perform as a team then it is obviously possible to win the game in Dhaka.
“We’ve a belief on ourselves as a unit and also backing ourselves to win a game. It’s a must-win situation for us. Ending the series with a win and back at home, something that will fit for us and about so as a unit we are confident still, maybe we lost the first Test,” he said.
“We have been adjoined together and coming back together as a strong team and looking forward together to win the game,” he continued.
The 26-year-old Warrican said that they are preparing themselves to control local spinners on Mirpur’s spinning track.
“Obviously Mirpur wicket will spin again. So, we’ve to control act with spin. We have to be positive and we’ve a game plan and execute the batting better in the wicket,” he said.
“The whole Bangladeshi batsmen plays spin very well. For us, we have to be disciplined and taking our chances and if you do that it will be a lot different game.”
“They’ve not won for a while and they’ll be keen to win the series. But we’ll try to come back and win the last Test to make sure we’ll draw the series.”
“Obviously wherever you go the conditions are different. In the Caribbean galore there is pace and bounce and even in Bangladesh there is spin and this kind of staff. When you come to a different condition, you have to be prepared as a team and only then it will come in your way.”
“Obviously Bangladesh wicket will be turn, we have to be prepared for that. And when Bangladesh comes to Caribbean, they’ll get bounce tracks. So, each team has a home advantage and they use their advantage.”
When asked about rule-out of Shannon Gabriel from the second Test, the St. Vincent-born spinner said that though Shannon is their strike-bowler they have some other bowlers in their bowling battery who will help them win this crucial Test.
“It’ll be crucial because Shannon is always our strike pace bowler, fastest bowler as well. He has also done very well against Bangladesh as well. Losing him is going to be key in this series,” he said, adding: “But we have ours in the circle to make up it and hopefully one of them will come and help us win this game.”
