Federation of Film Societies of Bangladesh (FFSB) is organising a combined programme tomorrow to celebrate its 45th founding anniversary and the birth anniversary of Hiralal Sen, the first filmmaker and legendary film personality of the subcontinent. The programme will start at 5:30pm at the National Art Plaza of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in Segun Bagicha of the capital.
FFSB commenced its journey on October 24 in 1973 as a federative body for all film societies functioning in Bangladesh. This year also marks the 150th birth anniversary of the iconic filmmaker Heralal Sen. FFSB has chalked out a programme to celebrate both the occasions combindly.
At the beginning of the ceremony, the welcome speech will be delivered by FFSB general secretary, filmmaker and writer Belayet Hossain Mamun. Then, Hashim Sufi, one of the prominent founding members of FFSB, will recall memories from the ealry days of FFSB’s journey.
Besides, a dicussion on the life and work of Hiralal Sen will be participated by noted art critic Moinuddin Khaled, noted film researcher and writer Anupam Hayat, film researcher and writer Dr Md Jahangir Hossain, film researcher and producer Sajan Majhi. FFSB president, architect Lailun Nahar Sammi will preside over the event.
After the discussion, certificates will be distributed among the students of four film appreciation courses organised by FFSB in 2017.
Moreover, a special film sceening of ‘Bhumiokopmer Porey’, a short film on earthquake by pioneer film soceity movement activist and filmmaker Shoibal Chowdhury, will be held in the end.
The programme remains open to everyone.
