The Election Commission has asked three ministries and an organisation to refrain from announcing any donation or allocation and releasing fund against any individual, group or organisation ahead of the national election while It sent separate letters to the Local Government Division, Relief and Disaster Management Ministry, Women and Children Affairs Ministry and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society last night.
In the letters, the Commission asked them not to announce any donation or allocation and release any fund from the fund of any very important person enjoying the government privileges or any government or semi-government and autonomous organisation till the results of the election are officially published in gazette.
The EC also asked the Local Government Division not to take any new project and the two other ministries and Bangladesh Red Crescent Society not to issue any sort of donation or distribute donation and relief during the period.
The EC's move came as part of ensuring a level-playing field ahead of the general election slated for December 30.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission yesterday directed the returning officers to prevent electioneering in religious gatherings or waz mahfil ahead of the national election to be held on December 30.
The EC sent a letter to all the returning officers asking them to take necessary measures so that the local administration or police do not give any permission for any fresh religious gathering or waz mahfil before the election.
However, the Commission said prescheduled religious programmes or any important religious meeting or waz mahfil
will have to be arranged taking permission of the returning officers.
In the letter, the Election Commission also asked the returning officers to take necessary steps so that no candidate or political person can conduct any election campaign.
It directed them to engage an executive magistrate in case of arranging such religious meeting or waz mahfil.
