BCL kicks off today

Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL)- the franchise-based First Class cricket tournament- ensuing seventh edition- is all set to roll onto the different two grounds all over the country today.

Defending champions Prime Bank South Zone will take on Walton Central Zone at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium (SICS) and BCB North Zone will vie against Islami Bank East Zone at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on the opening round fixture of the league.

The tournament committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) prepared all the sixth-round fixture of the BCL in such way which will be finished before the outset of the crucial national general election and Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

They fixed four venues of the four host cities that will feature all the matches of the league by rotation.   

Prime Bank South Zone among the franchises announced that the experienced campaigner Abdur Razzak will lead their side in the current season and local coach Sarwar Imran will work for the team as the head coach.

The Bankers’ boys held their first practice session at SICS ahead of the match. Both captain and coach reiterated their ultimate desire to defend the BCL title by playing better brand of cricket.

“The team we have with a mix of young and experienced players. The bulk of the players are in-form. We’ll try to play our better brand of cricket,” said Abdur Razzak.
